As an academic with poor posture, I’ve learned a lot of things. A handy one is to make sure you know a good osteopath!
In training/coaching you can just overdo it and pick up an injury. I recommend the clinic to my students and friends.
My job can be quite sedentary and I need to keep fit. On many occasions I have hobbled in and walked out, thanks!
Back pain is one of the largest complaints to Deansgate Osteopathic Clinic, in fact the treatment of back pain in Bolton follows the epidemic proportions in the western world. Research shows that 60% of the UK’s population will suffer from it at some stage during their lives. Back pain responds well to osteopathic treatment – reducing pain and restoring mobility and quality of life. We also recommend the Bacrac to help manage your pain.
Headaches we’ve all had one at some point, there very common and because they happen regularly, often people refer to them as “just a normal headache” or commonly a “tension headache”. They feel like a constant ache that affects both sides of the head, often described as a tight band is stretched around it. Shoulder pain such as Frozen Shoulder can impact tension headaches with postural changes and reduced movement.
Sciatica refers to an irritation of the sciatic nerve, the sciatic nerve comes from the lumbar and sacrum then down the legs. An irritation to the sciatic nerve can commonly give you backpain, however sciatic irritation can give rise to a multitude of symptoms, such as pain along the back of the leg, pins and needles or even weakness. Sciatica itself is not a diagnosis but an irritation to the sciatic nerve.
Sudden pain in one of the knees is usually the result of overusing the knee or injuring it. In many cases, you don’t need to see your GP. The knee joint is particularly vulnerable to damage and pain because it takes the full weight of your body and any extra force when you run or jump. You’re more likely to experience knee pain as you get older, and people who are overweight or do lots of sports have a higher risk of damaging their knees. We may also assess with a Gait Scan Analysis.
