Osteopath Bolton at Deasgate Osteopathic Clinic

Osteopath & Physiotherapist

Hi I’m Francis Connor

I specialise in managing and treating conditions that have previously not responded to surgery, physiotherapy or osteopathy. Often called upon for my expert opinion and skills in helping solve some of the more complex injuries we see here at the clinic.

I have been working with the residents of Bolton for quite some time,  I am one of the northwest’s most experienced and successful Osteopaths and Physiotherapist with 30 years in the industry.

Registered with:

GOsC (General Osteopathic Council)
BOA (British Osteopathic Association)
HPC (Health professional Council)
CSP (Chartered Society of Physiotherapists)
With a MSc in Sports Rehabilitation along with qualifications in Nutritional Therapy, Sports and Natural Nutrition.

Recognised by all insurance companies as a Registered Osteopath & Chartered Physiotherapist.

Osteopathy uses the phrase “structure governs function” and one I work with constantly refer to in my practise, how we use and treat the body will determine how it performs in our everyday sports and activities.

When we leave our youthful stage of life your body is down to you, the fitter, stronger, more mobile you are the better. If we consider a boxer, his intensive training wouldn’t make him a good swimmer or footballer, we get good at what we do.

So we need to ask “what do we want from our body and is our training and activities fit for purpose”. If an office based working mother with a sedentary lifestyle attends the clinic having back issues which have developed since having a baby, we would have to consider many factors such as; lifting- a child is like carrying weights that move, however children haven’t read and certainly don’t follow manual handling practises, they get heavier quickly, but, with the right intervention you can adapt quickly increasing strength, core stability with flexibility so the task of carrying a child becomes a lesser challenge and overall pressure on the body.

In my practice I implement a short term plan to help reduce your pain.  I assess, treat and rehabilitate then, discuss a long term plan for you to maintain your body and health.

I have an interest in postural issues and work related injury with also a keen interest in sports injuries currently club osteopath for Swinton judo club, Salford, along with Bolton Wanderers Football Club (BWFC)  and the osteopath for the BJC (British Judo Council), though my expertise is spinal rehabilitation.

During my time in practise I have helped many people in fact if you name a job I’ve probably treated someone in it, police officers, electricians, joiners roofers, dentists, osteopaths/physiotherapists (yes they get sore backs to), sports people from every level such as Common Wealth Games and British champions in judo, world ranked athletes, tri-athletes, cyclists and many local football teams.

I often get asked if I have treated anyone famous, the answer is yes ranging from northern soap actors to Hollywood stars like Jude Law…

Clinic attendance is from varied industry sectors, ranging from self employed individuals to employees from large companies and corporations such as the BBC, Granada TV with actors from coronation street, Emerdale, Holby city,  Lowry, The Palace, The Opera, Some of the larger companies such as  KPMG, Marks & Spencer’s, Croma, Esure, Royal Bank of Scotland, The CO-OP, BUPA , British Airways, Vidal Sassoon, MMU, Manchester City Council, EON, Kellogs and many many more…my youngest patient is six years old and the oldest 97 years old.

“I’ve been treated by Francis for years now – that’s not to say he’s not good at what he does – just that I damage myself regularly!!

He’s hands-on, which i prefer to being hooked up to machines, and it means that I get a great massage as well because all my treatments start with a massage to loosen up the problems areas.

On one occasion I entered the treatment room almost bent double – and I did a little skip on the way out – I don’t know how he did it but he worked a miracle that time.

I have recommended many friends, family members and colleagues to Francis and all have been very happy with the results.

Only on my first round of visits to Francis did I have repeat visits – but then my back was in a very bad way. On most occasions one visit is all it takes to get me back on my mountain bike, snowboard or just my feet!

Just the way I like it.”

A little bit on me Francis Connor

Q:How did you get started in Osteopathy
A:I have been interested in sport, fitness and health right from my days but it was a knee injury at judo which pushed me into the area.

Q:What do you love about your job?
A:There are many things to love about this job, its interesting, challenging and very rewarding, you can see the difference you can make.

Q:When you were little, what did you want to be?
A:I wanted to be a vet, just work on different bodies now

Q:How would you describe yourself?
A:Competitive, adventurous, lively, caring and energetic.

Q:Favourite food / drink
A:Pepperonni Pizza or fish, champagne closely followed by a pint of Joseph Holts Bitter
Generally don’t have them often but really enjoy them when I do.

Q:Pet hates / what would you like to live without?
A:Bad manners, they don’t cost anything but they do mean a lot (it is completely unnecessary), would love to live without a diary and mobile phone.

Q:What makes time fly for you?
A:Fell walking, playing with my son’s

Q:What do you do to really relax?
A:If I’ve had a really stressful day or week I try to head out to the seaside,  normally Ainsdale beach or the country for a nice long walk. Caving also helps me switch of too and doing Judo makes me feel more relaxed.

A:My family, love family gatherings and particularly time with my boy’s.
